Directors


Director Joe Reed has 19 years of playing and coaching experience. Reed is the the Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Yorktown High School in Arlington, VA. In 2020, Reed earned Sun Gazette Coach of the Year for leading the squad to its best start and most wins in Yorktown history (11-0 and 20, respectively), a Washington Post Top 20 ranking, and a Liberty District Championship. In 2021, the Patriots were a regional semi-finalist. Prior to YHS, he was the Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Bishop Ireton High School, in Alexandria where he had four players receive scholarship offers to play in college. Coach Reed also has 7 years of college coaching experience as an Assistant Mens Basketball Coach at Marymount University in Arlington, Catholic University in Washington DC and Springfield College in Massachusetts. During his college coaching career, Reed has coached six All-Conference players, two Rookie of the Year award winners, and two All-Americans. He began his coaching career in Connecticut before moving on to coach Varsity Girls' Basketball at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington. He currently teaches Physical Education at Abingdon Elementary, serves on the Arlington County Health and PE Program Evaluation Committee, serves as a board member on the Fairlington Arbor Condo Board, and is the founder and director of the Fairlington 5K in Arlington, VA.  

Assistant Director Katrina Reed has 17 years of playing and coaching experience, ranging from the elementary school to collegiate levels. Reed is currently the Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Episcopal High School in and Alexandria where she has led the team to two championship banners in four years. She also works as a full-time English teacher at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington. Reed played varsity basketball at Elmira College in Upstate New York while acting as a student assistant coach for the JV program. She was named Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year in her senior season as a Soaring Eagle. From 2008-2012, Reed coached at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., helping lead the team to their first NCAA Tournament appearance and Landmark Championship in 2012. She also made a stop at Marymount University, and coached a squad that won the Capital Athletic Conference in 2013, earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, and advanced to the Round of 32.
